how.

but exactly HOW are eggs retrieved for IVF?

a reader’s digest version: under ultrasound guidance, the doctor inserts a needle through the vaginal wall and into an ovarian follicle. the other end of the needle is attached to a suction device. once the follicle is entered, suction is gently applied to aspirate follicular fluid and with it, an egg. the follicular fluid is delivered to a technician to identify and quantify the eggs.

I totally stole that off wikipedia, haha.

if you at all curious about the science of what’s going to happen to me tomorrow, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oNg6Lm4ZJ4

it’s cute illustrations and not scary at all. though that being said, on the eve of going through this procedure myself- I only lightly skimmed through to make sure it was informative enough.

eeeeeeeeeee, the nerves are kicking in!!
